QUICK USER GUIDE
Chartodrome is a simple and powerful chart viewer designed for musicians. It helps you organize your charts, build setlists, add annotations, and keep everything flowing smoothly during practice or live performance. The app is built to be fast, clean, and distraction-free so you can focus on playing.
One of its most powerful features is tap-based navigation. Instead of scrolling, you simply tap to move forward or backward, making it faster, cleaner, and much more reliable during performance.
Getting Started:
On first launch, Chartodrome will ask you to select a Library folder. The app cannot work without this folder.
This folder should contain all your charts, as it is the central location where the app reads and stores your data. Setlists, tempos, and annotations are all linked to this folder. Charts located outside this folder will not be accessible until imported into it (Import feature will be available soon)
You can change the Library folder later from the Settings menu.
Settings:
Navigation. Chartodrome uses a split screen navigation system. Tap one side of the screen to go forward and the other side to go back. You can adjust the split point in Settings to match your preference. This tap-based system is designed for speed and reliability during performance.
Metronome Settings. Currently, the app uses a single metronome mode. Future updates will add more modes, and they will be selectable here.
Setlist Settings. You can delete saved setlists here. This action is permanent and cannot be undone. Import and export options will be added in future versions.
Change Library Folder. This lets you switch your Library folder. Since all setlists, tempos, and annotations are stored in the Library folder, changing it will make your existing data disappear from view. If you switch back to the original folder, everything will reappear. This also allows you to maintain multiple separate libraries with their own data.
Main Controls:
Quick Search. Use this to quickly find charts inside your Library folder. Useful when adding charts to a setlist on the fly.
Metronome Toggle. Shows or hides the metronome without stopping it.
Jump To. Displays all charts in the current setlist so you can jump directly to any chart.
Reorder. Allows you to rearrange the order of charts in your setlist.
Add Button (+) Opens the main menu with the following options:
Open Charts: Import charts into your setlist. Charts must be located inside the selected Libray Folder
Create Chart: Currently in development. For now, you can create a placeholder chart and assign tempo and annotations.
Open Setlist: Load a saved setlist.
Save Setlist: Save your current setlist. You can overwrite an existing one or save a new version. Overwrite cannot be undone.
Remove Button (-) Removes the currently displayed chart from the setlist.
Clear Viewer. Clears the viewer and unloads the current setlist.
Viewer:
The viewer displays your current chart. Navigation is fully tap-based, not scroll-based. Tap on either side of the screen to move forward or backward.
For multi-page PDFs, navigation is linear. Tapping forward moves to the next page, and tapping backward moves to the previous page. Once the last page is reached, the next tap moves to the next chart in the setlist.
The split point can be adjusted in Navigation Settings.
Annotations:
You can annotate any chart using the annotation tools. Changes are not saved automatically, so remember to save your work.
Tools include:
Close annotation bar
Save (enabled only when changes are made)
Undo and Redo
Pen
Marker
Eraser
Text tool to place editable text anywhere on the chart
Color palette for pen, marker, and text
Stroke or text size control depending on the selected tool
Metronome:
When opening or creating a chart, you can assign a tempo. Tap the 'No Tempo' label to open the tempo input. Use the numeric pad to enter a value and press OK to save it. The tempo is stored with the chart inside the Library folder.
If you change the Library folder, the connection between charts and their tempos will be lost. Switching back to the original Library folder restores the tempo data.
The metronome will continue playing even if it is hidden. When switching charts, it will automatically update to the new chart’s tempo. If the new chart has no tempo, the metronome will stop.
